HOW TO PROTECT YOUR ACCOUNT AGAINST UNAUTHORIZED USE
Always sign the back of your credit card.
Always insist a sales clerk match your signature to
the one on the back of the card. Why? Have you
noticed they've become increasingly sloppy and don't
do it anymore? They're supposed to. It's
conditioning; if enough people insist, they'll get
into the habit so they don't have to be hassled by
customers.
Always destroy your carbons. While uncommon, some
smaller retailers still use them.
Limit the number of cards you carry. If you have a
high limit card that you only use when you travel,
keep it at home under lock and key.
Make a copy of your cards and keep a list of the
telephone numbers used to report lost or stolen
cards.
Take a daily credit card inventory of your wallet or
purse.
If you let someone use your card, specify the exact
amount they may charge.
