  5.                  Always sign the back of your credit card.

  7.                  Always insist a sales clerk match your signature to
  8.                   the one on the back of the card. Why? Have you
  9.                   noticed they've become increasingly sloppy and don't
  10.                   do it anymore? They're supposed to. It's
  11.                   conditioning; if enough people insist, they'll get
  12.                   into the habit so they don't have to be hassled by
  13.                   customers.

  15.                  Always destroy your carbons. While uncommon, some
  16.                   smaller retailers still use them.

  18.                  Limit the number of cards you carry. If you have a
  19.                   high limit card that you only use when you travel,
  20.                   keep it at home under lock and key.

  22.                  Make a copy of your cards and keep a list of the
  23.                   telephone numbers used to report lost or stolen
  24.                   cards.

  26.                  Take a daily credit card inventory of your wallet or
  27.                   purse.

  29.                  If you let someone use your card, specify the exact
  30.                   amount they may charge.
